Commissioning a portrait is an investment.  An investment that warms hearts, carries tradition, and enriches lives. No matter where you are commissioning is easy.

Here are a few things to know:

  • Drawings take about three weeks. Paintings two months.

  • James can travel to you, or, you are welcome to visit his studio.

  • Drawings cost less than paintings.

  • Shipping and framing are additional.

  • Residents of NC pay 7% sales tax.

  • 50% deposit requested (required).

  • No agent or third party fees. With an agent the mark up is 20% - 40%.

  • You deal directly with James. In portraiture it’s best to work directly with the artist.

  • James stays in contact with you throughout the process. You are never left wondering.

  • Third party agents/portrait companies are trained in sales. They present the options they “think will sell.” James is trained in art history and what makes a great portrait.

  • James’ pricing is competitive.

  • James’ versatility provides him with the skills to paint anything.

  • Most importantly James cares about what you want.
